Dr. Kayyal has a special interest in neonatal neurology and spends much of his time consulting in the neonatal intensive care unit and teaching nursing staff, residents, fellows and faculty about neonatal neurology. He is also involved in neonatal seizure research in the NICU.
Dr. Kayyal serves as the associate program director for the CHOC/UCI Pediatric Neurology Residency Training Program.
“My philosophy of care has always centered around diagnosing neurologic conditions as early as possible as to provide the appropriate therapeutic intervention during a critical time in brain development,” Dr. Kayyal says. “The hope is in doing so, we are able to improve neurodevelopmental outcome.”
