Urologists Devoted To
Full-Time Pediatric Care
Children’s Urology, the only urology medical practice in Orange County devoted exclusively to pediatrics, has added two full-time pediatric urologists. Barry Duel, M.D., and David Chamberlin, M.D., have joined the practice, which is headed by pediatric urologist Joseph Raffel, M.D, and includes nurse practitioner Rebecca Kilpatrick, C.P.N.P.
Dr. Chamberlin, who also practiced adult urology prior to joining Children’s Urology, says an exclusive pediatric practice offers many benefits. “We are always in the ‘pediatric’ frame of mind. We are constantly seeing the same conditions and performing the same surgeries,” he says.
Additionally, the Children’s Urology in Orange County is one of two West Coast training sites for Deflux, a new minimally invasive surgical procedure to correct vesicoureteral reflux (VUR). According to Dr. Chamberlin, this endoscopic procedure has an 80 to 90 percent success rate. It eliminates the need for continuous cycles of antibiotics, as well as the risks associated with conventional open surgery.
Drs. Duel and Chamberlin have privileges at both CHOC and CHOC at Mission. Children’s Urology is located at 725 W. LaVeta, Suite 220, in Orange. Patients may also be seen at an Irvine office located at 15825 Laguna Canyon Road, Suite 201. For more information, please call 714-639-3134.
