Making a Mark for Children
Art & Creativity for Healing Visiting Art Angel Bedside Program For the past three years, a group of committed volunteers has visited CHOC every week to help children on the Oncology floor express the feelings associated with their illness. They are members of the Art & Creativity for Healing Visiting Art Angel Bedside program, which offers this complementary program to the children at CHOC. Heartfelt thanks go to lead facilitator Nancy Stewart and volunteers Joe Sorrentino, Diana Stephens, Bonnie Fuscoe and Elaine Godlewski for their worthy effort and dedication to CHOC?s patients. Art & Creativity for Healing is funded in part by the Disneyland? Resort Employee Fund. For more information, contact the Child Life Department at 714.532.8473, or visit www.art4healing.org. Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill This summer, Rubio?s Fresh Mexican Grill? helped raise $13,635 by donating $.50 of every $1 churro to the Radio Lollipop Fund at CHOC. The campaign ran for three weeks throughout Rubio?s Southland locations. Ralph Rubio, Co-Founder and CEO of Rubio?s, visited CHOC to show his support and meet patients. Mark Moses, Foundation Boardmember Mark Moses, whose son Mason was saved by emergency brain surgery at CHOC in 2004, has raised nearly $110,000 for the CHOC Neuroscience Institute. Mark competed in the Ironman Triathalon on August 27 in Canada as part of his personal goal and raised the money to honor his son and the many nurses and physicians that cared for him at CHOC. Last November Mark joined the CHOC Foundation for Children Board of Directors to ?help make a difference for our community and our kids.? Mark?s son, Mason, has fully recovered from his surgery and today is a happy, healthy 5-year-old. Vons This spring, customers shopping at local Vons or Pavilions grocery stores were able to support CHOC while they shopped. Vons Shop & Care program raised $15,000 for CHOC by allowing customers to donate a percentage of funds collected from buying specially marked products to a variety of organizations, including CHOC. Thank you all for your support!
