Dr. Margaret van Blerk, MD, MPH, FAAP, is a board-certified pediatrician at Southern Orange County Pediatric Associates in San Clemente, California, specializing in the health and well-being of children. Practicing at SOCPA since 2008, she provides comprehensive, family-centered care for infants, children and teens.
Dr. van Blerk is particularly passionate about childhood obesity prevention, asthma education, and promoting healthy choices for children and families. As a member of the Rady Children’s Health Primary Care Network, she is part of a nationally recognized pediatric health system to deliver coordinated care and streamline access to specialty care and additional services when necessary.
Dr. van Blerk served as a Commander in the U.S. Navy, overseeing the Pediatric Impatient Division as the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. There, she established a clinic dedicated to healthy choices in obese children, developed an asthma education program for children and families, and served as Education Coordinator for the Naval Center’s Pediatric Transport Team. She was voted “Most Compassionate Resident of the Year” during her residency.
