Dr. Matthew Kornswiet, DO, is a pediatrician and pediatric sports medicine specialist at Sea View Pediatrics in San Clemente and Laguna Hills, California. A lifelong Orange County local, Dr. Kornswiet grew up here, moved back home to join Sea View Pediatrics in 2019, and has cared for the community’s infants, children, and teens ever since. His practice is split roughly evenly between general pediatrics and sports medicine.
He is particularly passionate about assessing and treating bone, joint, and tendon issues and concussions in children and adolescents. He is also trained in using ultrasound for diagnosis and therapeutic injections. At our dedicated suite for pediatric sports medicine in Laguna Hills, he helps young athletes get evaluation, treatment, physical therapy, return to play guidance, and coordinated follow-up from the same team that knows their medical history.
Dr. Kornswiet is the team physician for Northwood High School in Irvine and communicates regularly with athletic trainers at high schools across the area. He has previously served as a team physician at several high schools and at the Division 1 and Division 2 college levels.
“I love working with young athletes and children due to their motivation and ability to recover quickly. I have a special passion for injury prevention and not only treating the site of pain but correcting for the underlying factor that led to the injury.”
He brings the same philosophy to his general pediatric patients: doing the simple things well. He emphasizes sleep, nutrition, and well-rounded exercise as the building blocks of lifelong health.
Dr. Kornswiet also visits newborn babies at the following hospitals: Providence Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, Rady Children’s (formerly CHOC) at Mission Hospital, Hoag Hospital Irvine and Saddleback Medical Center in Laguna Hills.
Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two active boys, golfing, grilling, and cheering on the Angels and Ducks.
