At CHOC Children’s, our dedicated team of adolescent medicine specialists provide comprehensive care for 13- to 21-year-old patients in a confidential and age-appropriate setting. Adolescence is an exciting time of growth and discovery, and teens and young adults have their own unique needs. While respecting your teen’s needs for confidential care, we take into consideration the needs of the entire family and how best to support your child’s journey into adulthood.

  • Primary care and preventative medicine, including annual physical exams, sports physicals, vaccines, vision and hearing screenings, anemia checks, diabetes and cholesterol screenings and more
  • Evaluation and treatment of eating disorders
  • Depression screening
  • Immunization updates
  • Irregular menses evaluation and other puberty-related concerns
  • Sexually transmitted disease diagnosis and treatment, as well as treatment for complications arising from STDs such as pelvic inflammatory disease
  • Contraception and counseling for long-acting reversible contraceptives such as the implant and intrauterine devices

  • Referrals to board-certified physicians in more than 30 specialties.

Eating Disorders Program

Untreated eating disorders may lead to significant medical complications and can be extremely difficult on teens and their families. At CHOC Children’s, we offer a comprehensive eating disorder program that includes adolescent medicine doctors, mental health professionals and specialized nutritionists to care for your child’s unique needs.

Adolescent Medicine Location

If you are interested in the CHOC Eating Disorders Program, please note that at this time, we are only able to see patients in our outpatient program that are insured through the CHOC Health Alliance, a CalOptima Health Network comprised of Children’s Hospital of Orange County and CHOC Physician Network. If you have concerns regarding your child's eating habits and/or weight, talk to your pediatrician regarding the possibility of an eating disorder, and request a referral to a psychologist.
