CHOC AND UCI OFFER FREE ASTHMA AND ALLERGY EDUCATION EVENT

Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), in collaboration with UCI, is offering a free asthma and allergy education event on Saturday, May 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The free event will take place in the CHOC West Building, 455 S. Main Street, in the Harold Wade Center and conference rooms A, B, C & D (on the second floor). The event, offered in English and Spanish, provides education on:
  • Recognizing triggers and how to avoid them

  • Correct techniques on peak flows devices, spacers, inhalers. nebulizer treatments by Certified Asthma Educators, Registered Nurses and a Respiratory Therapist

  • Food and Allergy Network, including advice on food allergies

  • Asthma medications

  • American Lung Association's Scamp camp

  • The CHOC Breathmobile Program of Orange County

  • Mothers of Asthmatics, Orange County

  • Healthy Families
The event features asthma management presentations in English (9 a.m.) and Spanish (10:30 a.m.), and offers fun activities for children to learn more about living with asthma. Attendees will receive free peak flows, spacers and allergy-free pillowcases (subject to availability). Prizes include two Hepa Filters.
