There’s no place like CHOC Children’s Urology Center. As Orange County’s only dedicated fellowship-trained pediatric urology center, our multidisciplinary care team offers diagnosis, ongoing treatment and surgical intervention for all pediatric urological concerns within our convenient, family-centered care environment. Because we specialize in pediatric urology, we are able to provide our patients with the most innovative, comprehensive and clinically advanced care available.
When a child needs urology care and services, that child’s needs are very different than those of an adult patient. At CHOC, we have specialized in treating children since we welcomed our first patients in 1964. Since we opened the doors to our the Urology Center in 2009, we have ranked among the top 50 pediatric urology hospitals according to U.S. News and World Report.
The CHOC Children’s Urology Center is committed to offering patients the very latest treatments in pediatric urology in an environment dedicated to family-centered care. Our physicians and other health care professionals are all specially trained to work with pediatric urology patients. Our four world-renowned fellowship-trained pediatric urologists, Dr. Antoine Khoury, Dr. Gordon McLorie, Dr. Irene McAleer and Dr. Elias Wehbi are held at the highest regard for their skills as surgeons and health providers. The center also has two full-time certified pediatric nurse practitioners, Maryellen Kelly and Blake Selby Watts, who have specialized solely in pediatric urology for their entire careers.
Being associated with the University of California, Irvine’s urology department, means we maintain our ability to be a teaching facility and conduct state-of-the art research. Our urology residents and pediatric urology fellows are among the best and brightest from around the globe. Together, our team is a cohesive unit that interacts regularly to ensure quality, effective and efficient care.

The team approach
Our urology team works closely with each child’s parents or legal guardians and specialists throughout CHOC Children’s in order to gain an overall perspective of a child’s diagnosis. We know that while we are experts in pediatric urology, each parent or guardian is their child’s expert. We work with the patient's family and our colleagues to create the best treatment plans possible for conditions including spina bifida, disorders of sexual differentiation, and more. CHOC Children’s offers the county’s only specialized spina bifida clinic that is attended by six different specialties. By coordinating care with a variety of specialties and the patient’s family, we are able to provide comprehensive care without the need for multiple appointments in different locations.
We are always by your side
In addition to being experts in the urology care for pediatric patients, we are dedicated to providing compassionate patient- and family-centered care. At CHOC, it is important that our patients still feel and act like kids and that their families get the support they need to focus on what is most important: patient recovery. We are by your side every step of the way with detailed information, guides and more. Learn more about the conditions we treat.
