CHOC Children's neurosurgeon Michael Muhonen, MD, medical director of the CHOC Children's Neuroscience Institute, will appear as an expert on the highly rated award-winning healthcare television program American Health Journal on PBS SoCal TV on Thursday, September 27th at 12:30 p.m. He will discuss the topic of dermoid cysts in children.
Dr. Muhonen joined CHOC Children’s following an assistant professorship of Neurosurgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals. He completed his residency training at the University of Iowa Hospitals and attended medical school at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He has published over 20 original manuscripts and book chapters, and has made over 100 national and international presentations on various pediatric neurosurgical topics. Dr. Muhonen’s clinical interests include hydrocephalus, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, brain tumors, Moyamoya disease, and vascular malformations of the brain.
The recipient of more than 90 national and international awards, including 15 Telly Awards, American Health Journal airs on PBS and other national network affiliates that reach more than 30 million households.
