Brief Description
An expert in children’s mental health will provide an overview of developmental milestones for children ages 0-5. Every child develops in their own unique way, and this presentation will help caregivers become familiar with typical developmental issues so that they can nurture children’s natural growth and know when it’s time to seek help. Time will also be spent on providing concrete strategies to problem solve typical areas of concern, like toilet training and mealtime.

Presenter Bio
Ava Casados, Ph.D (she/her) serves as the Supervisor of the Mental Health Education Program (MHEP) at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). Dr. Casados completed her doctorate in clinical psychology at Yale University, followed by clinical internship at New Mexico VA and University of New Mexico Children’s Hospital. Dr. Casados came to CHOC as a post-doctoral fellow and worked as a pediatric psychologist in CHOC’s Integrated Primary Care service between fellowship and assuming her role in MHEP. In her position supervising MHEP, Dr. Casados focuses on spreading mental health education, de-stigmatizing mental health topics, and building community partnerships.
