Outcomes: Physician Learners will be able to:

  • Discuss the justification for screening newborns for SCID, how TRECs can be used to make the diagnosis, and the success rate of that screening.
  • Use the California Newborn screening TREC algorithm to interpret the results from screening on an individual patient.
  • Identify infants in your practice that may have SCIDs, even with negative newborn screening, based on presenting features.
