Dr. McLorie joined CHOC in 2012. During a career spanning four decades, Dr. McLorie amassed a tremendous body of knowledge and achievements in the field of urology. He was internationally recognized for his refined surgical skills, particularly in reconstructive surgery, pediatric urological oncology and renal transplantation. A graduate of the University of Toronto Medical School and urology residency program, Dr. McLorie pursued fellowship training in oncology at UCLA, followed by pediatric urology training with renowned surgeon Hardy Hendren in Boston. With this unique training, he helped shape pediatric urology in North America and the world.

Dr. McLorie was one of a handful of individuals who contributed to the professional training and development of pediatric urologists practicing today. Several of his trainees are in academic leadership positions in pediatric urology across the country and internationally. Dr. McLorie had a practical approach to clinical care and medical education. He contributed immensely to the pediatric urology meetings, and his presentations and questions always reflected his no-nonsense style.

Dr. McLorie was an avid athlete, and shared a love for the outdoors and sports with his wife, Blair. He is survived by Blair; their four children, David, Scott, Graham and Megan; and six grandchildren.

Dr. McLorie’s contributions to CHOC and UC Irvine are invaluable. He will be greatly missed.
