CHOC Children's Annual Report Everyone in Orange County is somehow connected to CHOC Children’s. If it’s not your own children that have been treated by our team of pediatric experts, chances are you know a few that have. Among friends, neighbors, coworkers, even people we encounter in our daily travels—CHOC is a common bond we all share. In this report, you will learn about some of our finest moments. |
Memorable Community Moments
Regardless of economic climate, two million children still count on CHOC being there to provide world-class pediatric care — at a moment’s notice. And thanks to the support of individuals, corporations, foundations and the CHOC Guilds, we haven’t let them down. During fiscal year 2010 (July 1, 2009 – June 30, 2010) the CHOC Children’s Foundation raised $15 million in order for our physicians, nurses and staff to continue providing state-of-the-art care based on the latest research and guidelines. Thanks to this unwavering community support, CHOC was actually able to increase programs, services, resources and space despite a second consecutive year of unprecedented economic uncertainty. In September, 102.7 KIIS FM broadcast “Lollipop Live” from CHOC, an on-air fundraising event. With assistance from our CMN partners, the event raised about $32,000 and helped to celebrate the fourth anniversary of Radio Lollipop, our in-house radio station, with special celebrity visitors. In October, scores of valiant CHOC supporters came out to raise $1.6 million at the 19th annual CHOC/Disneyland® Resort Walk in the Park. A few months later, we kicked off a new year with the return of the CHOC Cherishes Children Gala, which raised $545,000. In February, the Anaheim Ducks’ “Lady Ducks” organized a Parisian-themed fashion show that featured several of the players on the catwalk and raised $98,000. March was particularly busy. CHOC Family Night at Honda Center, an evening of fun for all ages, raised $35,000. Later that month, almost 100 of Orange County’s business, civic and community leaders sang and danced in CHOC Follies XIII, bringing in $750,000.
