A Message from the President and CEO
I am excited to announce that for the second year in a row, CHOC Children’s has been recognized with the CAPE (California Awards for Performance Excellence) Award from the California Council for Excellence. This year, we received the Silver Level award. The CAPE program is the highest recognition in the state for performance excellence in business, education, healthcare, nonprofit and military. This award demonstrates our continuous improvement and superior performance in the areas of leadership, planning, customer and market focus, knowledge management, human resources, process management and business results. I am further pleased to share that our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) recently received the Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN)—the first PICU in the nation to be recognized. The Beacon Award represents extraordinary commitment to high-quality critical care standards and dedication to the exceptional care of patients and their families. Because of our diligence to the pursuit of clinical and organizational excellence, CHOC is able to provide the highest quality care to every child who comes here seeking treatment. Our donors are the backbone of our progress, providing the resources necessary for us to make these achievements possible. Thank you once again for your enduring partnership. Sincerely,
As a Beacon Award recipient, CHOC’s PICU succeeded in the areas of recruitment and retention, education and mentoring, research, patient outcomes, leadership and ethics, and a healing environment.
