Anaheim Ducks and children Shoot for the Cure
Last fall, the Orange County Shoot for the Cure hockey skills clinic raised $25,000 for the CHOC Children?s Cancer Institute. Former Anaheim Ducks defenseman Joe DiPenta and his wife, Jessica, along with Rick Johnson and Dianna Munro founded the inaugural charity event to help children battling cancer and to work towards finding a cure.
Joining them were Ducks players Ryan Getzlaf, Chris Pronger, Scott Niedermayer, George Parros, Brad May, Todd Marchant, Bobby Ryan, Steve Montador, Andrew Ebbett and Brendan Mikkelson.
More than 250 parents attended the event to watch their children participate and enjoy the day. Anaheim Ducks mascot Wild Wing and the Ducks Street Team were on hand to entertain the kids and their families, and Mimi?s Caf? donated refreshments for the event.
?As a passionate hockey fan and cancer survivor, it was exciting to see hockey fans, kids and their families joining us for this special event to make a difference in the lives of those dealing with cancer in Orange County,? Dianna says.
