Record Crowd Brings in $1.6 Million for CHOC

The 17th annual CHOC/Disneyland® Resort Walk in Park exceeded all expectations and raised more than $1.6 million for CHOC, with nearly 16,000 walkers participating in the event. In addition, 628 teams participated in the walk, twice as many as last year.

According to Patrice Poidmore, special events director at CHOC, “I believe we can attribute the jump in participation to greater corporate involvement. We’re really starting to see more companies enthusiastically promoting the event among their employees, which is wonderful. We really want this to be an event for the entire community, in addition to the families who have a personal experience with CHOC.”

The day started off with a rallying message from CHOC President and CEO Kim Cripe, and wrapped up in Downtown Disney. Along the route, parents and children could be seen carrying banners in memory or in support of CHOC patients.

According to Erin Heim, whose daughter was treated at CHOC and who participated in the event, “it really is something to see; it’s overwhelming how many people from the community come out in support of CHOC. It’s touching that so many people care about the health and well being of children in our community.”
