CHOC at Mission/Mission Hospital Construction Update
Two major projects are in the works at CHOC at Mission and Mission Hospital: an emergency department expansion to accommodate the growing number of CHOC at Mission patients and the new Swenson Family Pediatric Operating Pavilion.
Phase I of the emergency department construction, the -Pediatric Fast Track,- is slated for opening in May 2005 and consists of 11 beds, a pediatric waiting room and an additional mixed-use waiting room. A digital radiology room will serve the entire department, eliminating the need to transport patients for routine imaging studies. The additional space will be used for staff support. The Phase I area will be "mixed-use" while additional phases of construction are completed to allow the ED to maintain its current 21-bed capacity.
The Swenson Family Pediatric Operating Pavilion construction is completed, and occupancy is expected to begin in May 2005. The 4,036 squarefoot area includes in- and outdoor play areas, six pre- and post-surgical suites, a reception and conference area and a "kidified" waiting area.
