Seacrest Studios

Seacrest Studios, an in-house multimedia broadcast center, opened in March 2013 at Children’s Hospital of Orange County in Orange, CA. Thanks to the Ryan Seacrest Foundation, patients at CHOC Children’s now have the ability to explore the creative realms of radio, television, and new media right from their hospital rooms. We are one of just a handful of children’s hospitals nationwide to have this resource available for our patients and families and the only studio currently on the west coast.

On-Demand Entertainment

The 700 square foot studio, located on the 2nd Floor of the Bill Holmes Tower, includes five guest microphones, production-quality video cameras and radio equipment, a green screen that allows patients to participate in video projects. The studio has a full-time program director and programming that includes radio and television shows, game shows, celebrity interviews, and performances. The studio programming is broadcast to patient rooms via closed-circuit television so that all patients can participate in the fun. Patients can tune in to channel 36 or 36-1 to enjoy the broadcasts and they even have the ability to request songs from their rooms (just call 15555 from your hospital phone).

Internship Program

Seacrest Studios also features a hands-on internship program with local college students who are studying film, television broadcasting, journalism and communications. Interns work in teams to provide on-air content for patients and families. They also interact with patients and families and learn about the world of radio and television broadcasting. To apply to be a Seacrest Studios intern, fill out the Internship Application, send your resume and cover letter to our program coordinator, Bryan Mundia. For application deadlines click here.

Special Guests

Since the opening of Seacrest Studios, CHOC has provided patients with countless hours of programming, musical guests, and interviews with celebrities like Britney Spears, Debby Ryan, Taylor Lautner, Victoria Justice, Miley Cyrus, The Wanted and Kylie and Kendall Jenner. The studio is made possible thanks to a partnership with the Ryan Seacrest Foundation, which has been building broadcast media centers in pediatric hospitals across the country since 2010. If you would like more information about Seacrest Studios at Children’s Hospital of Orange County, contact Bryan Mundia, program coordinator, at 714-509-7839. “I’ve long been a fan of CHOC and their incredible team of doctors and staff that provide such amazing care and service to children and their families. When my family and I mapped out our location priorities for Seacrest Studios, CHOC was on our foundation’s short list. Their support has been tremendous, and I believe we’re all unified in our mission to help kids and their families cope with their time at the hospital in new, fun and interesting way.” –Ryan Seacrest
