STONEFIRE GRILL SERVES UP DAY OF FUN FOR CHOC PATIENTS AND ISSUES GREAT AMERICAN PIZZA CHALLENGE
March 21, 2007 The world’s biggest Easter egg will serve as the centerpiece of a day of activities on April 4 at 10 a.m. for young patients at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) that will include decorating the giant egg, coloring real eggs, and creating designer pizzas. The event will serve as a precursor to the Great American Pizza Challenge at all Southern California Stonefire Grill locations whereby proceeds generated by the sale of the restaurants’ oven-baked pizzas on Friday, April 6 will be donated to CHOC. The public is encouraged to order either the traditional or deep-dish pies that range in price from $8.99 to $15.99 and are available in-house or to-go. “Children’s Hospital of Orange County is one of our favorite local organizations and we wanted to do something special for the patients that went beyond merely raising funds for them,” says Mary Harrigan, who with her sister, Maureen, founded the popular eateries in 2000. “We will be encouraging the children to express their Easter wishes and overall creativity on the giant Easter egg and simply have a ball coming up with their own pizza creations. We hope that by engaging them in these activities, the children will get their minds off of their illness or injury and get back to just being kids." She adds, “This day of fun is really a precursor to the Great American Pizza Challenge, which we hope will entice pizza lovers throughout the Southland to step up to the plate, so to speak.
