IRVINE VALLEY AIR CONDITIONING HONORS "FAMILY" AND CHOC WITH $100,000 DONATION
August 21, 2013

CHOC Children’s today received a $100,000 donation from Irvine Valley Air Conditioning, an Anaheim-based business owned and operated by the Ricigliano family for 30 years. Representing the family, twins Bill Ricigliano, president, Irvine Valley Air Conditioning, and Jennifer Marsh made the gift to name a conference room used by physicians working in CHOC’s pediatric intensive care unit and cardiovascular intensive care unit.

According to Marsh, the siblings chose to give to CHOC as a way to honor their parents, who died from cancer. They selected the conference room near the intensive care units as a way to offer support to families of critically ill and injured children.

Both Ricigliano and Marsh have a history of supporting CHOC. For the last seven years, they have participated in the hospital’s adopt- a -family program, generously giving to 21 families. Ricigliano is also a supporter of CHOC’s pet therapy program and hosted, in 2011, a bowling event for CHOC’s cancer patients.

“As a family and as business owners, we are avid believers of giving back.  Watching our parents succumb to their battles with cancer instilled in us a strong desire to support others who are ill and their families,” explained Marsh.

Named one of the best children’s hospitals by U.S. News & World Report (2014-2015) and a 2013 Leapfrog Top Hospital for the highest quality of care, Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC Children's) is exclusively committed to the health and well-being of children through clinical expertise, advocacy, outreach, education and research that brings advanced treatment to pediatric patients. Affiliated with the University of California, Irvine, CHOC’s regional health care network includes two state-of-the-art hospitals in Orange and Mission Viejo, many primary and specialty care clinics, a pediatric residency program, and four clinical centers of excellence - the CHOC Children’s Heart, Neuroscience, Orthopaedic and Hyundai Cancer Institutes..

CHOC earned the Gold Level CAPE Award from the California Council of Excellence, the only children’s hospital in California to ever earn this distinction, and was awarded Magnet designation, the highest honor bestowed to hospitals for nursing excellence.  Recognized for extraordinary commitment to high-quality critical care standards, CHOC’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is the first in the United States to earn the Beacon Award for Pediatric Critical Care Excellence.
