CHOC CHILDREN'S PRESIDENT AND CEO KIM CRIPE HONORED WITH 2012 CHAMPION OF CHILDREN AWARD
April 06, 2012

CHOC Children’s President and CEO Kim Cripe received the 2012 Champion of Children Award from the Child Abuse Prevention Center and The Blue Ribbon Society.  The award is presented annually to outstanding community members, as well as business and civic leaders who display a steadfast commitment to child advocacy.  Ms. Cripe was honored recently during a reception co-hosted by the Whittier Law School.

“The selection of Ms. Cripe as the Prevention Center’s Champion of Children is a result of her dedication as a child advocate and her commitment to expanding healthcare access to underserved children and adolescents in our community,” said Scott Trotter, executive director at the Prevention Center.

In addition to leading one of the top pediatric healthcare systems in the nation, Ms. Cripe has assumed leadership positions with various healthcare associations, including serving as the board chair for the California Children’s Hospital Association and serving on the board of the Child Health Corporation of America. She is currently the Chair Elect for the Children and Families Commission of Orange County (Prop. 10).

The Child Abuse Prevention Center is dedicated to serving at-risk children and families in crisis. As Orange County’s leading not-for-profit organization focused exclusively on the prevention of child abuse, the early intervention programs of the Prevention Center have a well-documented record of working to prevent child abuse before it occurs.

CHOC earned the Gold Level CAPE Award from the California Council of Excellence, the only children’s hospital in California to ever earn this distinction, and was awarded Magnet designation, the highest honor bestowed to hospitals for nursing excellence.  Recognized for extraordinary commitment to high-quality critical care standards, CHOC’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is the first in the United States to earn the Pediatric Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence.
