RUBIO'S FRESH MEXICAN GRILL® FUNDRAISER ENDS IN SWEET SUCCESS FOR CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL OF ORANGE COUNTY'S RADIO LOLLIPOP
August 23, 2006

Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill®, in partnership with KIIS-FM, raised $13,635 during its churro fundraiser for Children's Hospital of Orange County's (CHOC) Radio Lollipop, a hospital-based radio station that will begin broadcasting two nights a week in September. During the three-week fundraiser, Rubio's® donated 50 cents for every $1 churro sold at its 65 restaurants throughout Orange County, Los Angeles County and the Inland Empire. More than 27,000 churros were sold during the fundraiser.

CHOC's Radio Lollipop, the first site on the West Coast and only the third in the nation, is scheduled to go on air via the hospital's closed-circuit televisions on September 22. The studio will be housed in the hospital's main lobby and run by a team of volunteers who will involve patients in recreational activities linked to radio programs that are child-focused and filled with stimulating fun and games. Volunteer deejays will play "Top 40" hits and children's favorites, take call-in requests, and put patients "on air" from the bedside or in the studio.

Ryan Seacrest, top-rated morning radio show personality on 102.7 KIIS-FM and host of television's American Idol, has been assisting in raising funds for CHOC's Radio Lollipop. KIIS-FM engineers and programming staff have been consulting on the project to help ensure it features state-of-the-art broadcast equipment. KIIS-FM will continue to support the program after the studio is completed by providing prizes and special guest appearances.
