Numbers are in! Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) is thrilled to announce that the 15th Annual CHOC/Disneyland Resort Walk in the Park, held on October 2, 2005, raised over $1.24 million and was CHOC's second ever $1 million fundraising event. An estimated 12,000 participants including community members, corporate teams, and current and former CHOC patients and families walked a 5K route through Disneyland park and Disney's California Adventure park to raise funds in support of CHOC and CHOC at Mission. Along the route, participants were cheered on by Disney characters and then celebrated the event's conclusion in the Downtown Disney District with a variety of live entertainment, food and fun. Proceeds from the annual CHOC/Disneyland Resort Walk in the Park go into the Kids Care Fund - a general fund benefiting clinical care (caring for all children, regardless of their ability to pay), advancement (new technology and cutting-edge procedures), research (both lab and clinical) and education (community outreach) at CHOC and CHOC at Mission. The annual Walk is CHOC's largest, most successful fundraiser. To date, totals raised since the first Walk in 1991 exceed $7 million and last year, the Walk became CHOC's first ever $1 million event.
