Visiting and Cafeteria Hours

Visiting Hours Parents may visit 24 hours a day. Other adults and children may visit between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Check with your nurse on the specialty areas such as PICU, NICU, and CVICU for more specific guidelines. All visitors must sign in and obtain a pass at the Information Desk in the main lobby on the first floor. Parents are given a yellow armband to wear, which must be worn and visible. Visitors are given a pass which also must be worn and visible. Anyone who is ill or has been exposed to a contagious disease is not allowed to visit. |

Cafeteria Hours CHOC has two full-service cafeterias located in our North Tower and Holmes Tower of our hospital. CHOC North Cafe hours of operation: 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Sunday. CHOC Holmes Cafe hours of operation: 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Both serve hot entrees, deli sandwiches, salads, beverages and desserts for eating in or taking out. Hot breakfast is available from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., lunch is available from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and dinner is available in the North Cafe only from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. You may access the cafeteria menu by calling extension 12123 (Monday-Friday only). The cafeteria cash registers will accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover cards. Gift cards may also be purchased through the Cafeteria Cashier. Vending machines are available 24 hours a day in the North Tower cafeteria. |

Coffee Kiosk The CHOC Coffee Kiosk (Starbucks) hours of operation: 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, located in the Holmes Tower outside of the cafeteria. |

Lounges Each floor has a parent lounge. This is a place for families to relax. Restrooms for parents and visitors are located in the lounge. |

Patient Meals Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided at regular times and some snacks are available on each unit as well as on request. Meals are ordered by filling out our daily menu which is designed for different ages and dietary needs. It is available in English and Spanish. Please ask to speak with a dietician if you have special nutritional or cultural needs. Families may bring in food from home for their children, but must follow a strict food safety policy and must also check with the nurse. The food must be labeled with the patient’s name, dated to ensure freshness and will be discarded after 3 days. |

Meals for Parents Parent guest trays are available for a fee of $5.00 per meal. Parents may choose from our regular menu or cafeteria menu. This service is available only on the medical and surgical floors and oncology. Due to hospital regulations, we are not permitted to extend this service to parents in our PICU, CVICU and NICU. These parents are allowed to order a meal but it cannot be eaten in their child's room. |
