CHOC Children’s is pleased to announce that its state-of-the-art clinical laboratory successfully passed the State of California survey for Clinical Laboratory Improvements Amendments (CLIA) certification and licensure.
The survey involved a rigorous review of policies, procedures, staff competencies and equipment validation.
CHOC’s 22,000-square-foot clinical laboratory is located in the new South Tower, set to open in Spring 2013. When it opens, the lab will offer numerous specialized tests designed to address a wide array of pediatric diseases. In addition, the lab team, including skilled phlebotomists with experience working with children, is dedicated to offering pediatric patients with the most pleasant experience possible, even when it comes to having blood drawn. Special techniques designed to reduce anxieties and fears will be deployed in a compassionate, child-focused environment.
