CHOC CELEBRATES THE OPENING OF ITS NEW AMBULATORY CARE CENTER, INCLUDING THE DISNEYLAND RESORT MAIN LOBBY
June 10, 2008

Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) recently honored the Disneyland Resort® and the hospital’s family of supporters for their role in generously funding construction of the CHOC Ambulatory Care Center.

This newly renovated and expanded center, which houses primary and specialty care clinics on the hospital’s Orange campus, was funded in large part by a $1 million gift bestowed to CHOC by The Walt Disney Company and The Disneyland Resort during the 50th anniversary celebration of Disneyland.  In honor of the gift and the long-standing friendship between CHOC, The Walt Disney Company and the Disneyland Resort®, the Center’s lobby is named “The Disneyland Resort Ambulatory Care Center Main Lobby.” Additional funds for the Center came from the Annenberg Foundation, the Rothschild Family Foundation and Galkos Construction, Inc.

The CHOC Ambulatory Care Center was built in three phases, beginning in 2006, and boasts 85 primary and specialty care exam rooms and treatment areas, including two radiology suites and a two-chair dental clinic.  This state-of-the-art outpatient facility features the best in family-centered care and helps the hospital fulfill its commitment to providing care for every child in the region who is seeking it.

About CHOC Children's: Named one of the best children’s hospitals by U.S. News & World Report (2014-2015) and a 2013 Leapfrog Top Hospital, CHOC Children's is exclusively committed to the health and well-being of children through clinical expertise, advocacy, outreach and research that brings advanced treatment to pediatric patients. Affiliated with the University of California, Irvine, CHOC’s regional health care network includes two state-of-the-art hospitals in Orange and Mission Viejo, several primary and specialty care clinics, a pediatric residency program, and four centers of excellence - The CHOC Children’s Heart, Neuroscience, Orthopaedic and Hyundai Cancer Institutes.

CHOC earned the Gold Level CAPE Award from the California Council of Excellence, the only children’s hospital in California to ever earn this distinction, and was awarded Magnet designation, the highest honor bestowed to hospitals for nursing excellence.  Recognized for extraordinary commitment to high-quality critical care standards, CHOC’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is the first in the United States to earn the Pediatric Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence.
