A RECORD NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS ARE EXPECTED TO RAISE OVER $1 MILLION FOR CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL OF ORANGE COUNTY AT THE 16TH ANNUAL CHOC/DISNEYLAND RESORT

WHAT: A record breaking number of participants including community members, corporate teams, and current and former patients and families of Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) will walk a 5K route through Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure theme parks in the 16th annual CHOC/Disneyland Resort Walk in the Park.

Along the route, participants will be cheered on by Disney characters and will celebrate the event's conclusion in the Downtown Disney District with a variety of live entertainment, food and fun. Proceeds from the annual event go toward research and education at CHOC, CHOC at Mission and also to the Kids Care Fund, which helps provide medical care for all children regardless of their family’s ability to pay. An estimated 12,000 walkers participated in the Walk last year helping raise over $1.2 million, the most in CHOC Walk history. The annual Walk is CHOC’s largest, most successful fundraiser and has raised more than $7 million since its inception in 1991.

WHEN: Sunday, October 8, 2006 Opening Ceremonies to begin promptly at 7:00 a.m. Walk in the Park to begin at 7:15 a.m.

WHERE: Disneyland Resort The walk will start on Main Street, USA in the Disneyland Park, go through Disney’s California Adventure and end in the Downtown Disney District.

Media check-in will begin at 6:00 a.m. and will be located in front of the kennels at the front entrance of Disneyland Park. Parking for media will be available at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa valet parking, located on Disneyland Drive, between Katella and Magic Way.
