The all-new Heart Institute is the only pediatric dedicated facility in Southern California offering the latest in comprehensive cardiac care, including:
• 3-D real-time echocardiography
• 1.5T and 3.0T MR and CT angiography with 3-D image reconstruction
• Two dedicated cardiovascular operating suites with the latest heart-lung bypass technology
• Expanded extra corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) services including heart and lung Extra Corporeal Life Support and ventricular assist devices
• A dedicated Arrhythmia Device Center offers pacemaker checks, implantable loop recorders and Holter monitors.
• Pediatric ergometer and treadmill stress-testing
• Pediatric cardiopulmonary (CPX) and pulmonary function (PFT) testing
• Certified pediatric cardiac clinical staff, pediatric cardiac nurse practitioners, social workers and child life specialists

Cardiovascular Operating Suites and Catheterization Labs
Housed on the third floor of CHOC’s new Bill Holmes Tower, the brand new Heart Institute is steps away from the hospital’s impressive offering of surgical services—including 7 Class C operating and 5 minor procedure suites.
The third floor is also home to two leading-edge cardiovascular cardiac catheterization suites: one of which is configured and fully equipped for hybrid procedures, the other is specially designed for electrophysiology. Both labs offer the latest advances in early, complete congenital heart treatment.
