Physician / Researcher Bio
Dr. Lilibeth Torno is the Clinical Director, Outpatient Services and the CHOC ACTS (After the Cancer Treatment Survivorship Program. She also leads the Ambulatory Care Services of The CHOC Cancer Institute and directs the CHOC Long Term Follow-up Clinic for survivors of childhood cancer. The outpatient clinic provides comprehensive care of children undergoing chemotherapy, as well as those who have completed therapy. She is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology. Dr. Torno completed her fellowship training at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. She completed her residency at CHOC. She attended medical school at University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines.Research
Dr. Torno is currently involved in a number of research projects in association with the Children’s Oncology Group (COG). She is currently clinical investigator in several COG bone and soft tissue cancer treatment studies.Independent of her work with COG, Dr. Torno is very involved in researching cancer survivorship and educating cancer survivors on the long-term impact of their cancers and treatments. To further this interest, Dr. Torno is involved in the Childhood Cancer Survivorship Study. In this multi-center study, Dr. Torno and others are looking at long-term health and quality of life in childhood cancer survivors. Dr. Torno is also in the process of developing an educational curriculum for survivors ages 15 and older. In the future, she hopes to create curriculum for younger children.
Dr. Torno has spoken at numerous conferences and symposiums regionally and internationally on long-term cancer survivorship, histiocytosis treatment, and more.
