Physician Bio

Dr. Deckey graduated Magna cum laude from Brown University receiving a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry. He went on to Columbia University in New York City to complete his medical degree, graduating with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. Dr. Deckey remained at Columbia University in order to complete his orthopedic surgical training. He was elected chief resident and recieved the Oren Baab award for outstanding leadership. Following his residency, Dr. Deckey received the highest score in the nation on part one of the National orthopedic written board exam. He completed a scoliosis surgery fellowship program at the University of California, San Francisco under the direction of Dr. David Bradford, a world pioneer in the field of spinal deformity surgery. Dr. Deckey now specializes in complex adult and pediatric spinal deformity surgery, including scoliosis, kyphosis, and spondylolisthesis. He is active in teaching, lecturing, and conducting research on an international level. He is pioneering techniques in minimally invasive spinal deformity surgery. He is a partner of the Orthopedic Specialty Institure and serves on the board of directors of the Orthopedic Education and Research Institute of Southern California.
