Physician / Researcher Bio

David Buchbinder, M.D., is an attending physician with the division of pediatrics hematology at CHOC and a clinical instructor with the University of California, Irvine’s department of pediatrics. Dr. Buchbinder is board certified in pediatrics and board eligible in pediatric hematology/oncology. He recieved his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He completed his internship and residency training at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA where he also completed his fellowship training in pediatric hematology/oncology.) The doctor's honors include the Jonsson Cancer Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship, the Stein Oppenheimer Endowment Award and the ASCO Young Investigator Award.

Research

Dr. Buchbinder’s clinical and research interests are in hematopoietic cell transplantation for non-malignant disorders, in addition to investigating and understanding psychosocial impact of chronic illness in patients and families. He is currently working with his colleagues at CHOC and the University of California, Irvine to look at the impact of late occurring toxicities of hematopoietic and malignant diseases.
