Physician Bio
Bang Hoang, M.D. is a Musculoskeletal Oncologist and an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at UC Irvine Medical Center.Dr. Hoang graduated from UCLA School of Medicine and completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Case Western Reserve University and is board certified with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He completed his Orthopaedic Oncology training at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center of New York. He is a member of several national and international organizations including the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society, American Orthopaedic Association, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Orthopaedic Research Society, Connective Tissue Oncology Society, American Association for Cancer Research, and Children Oncology Group.
His research in bone tumor has received funding from the National Cancer Institute, Aircast Foundation, American Cancer Society, and Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation.
Dr. Hoang has been a recipient of several awards including the North American Traveling Fellowship (American Orthopaedic Association), Allen Fellow Distinguished Professor (Case Western Reserve University), AFLAC Young Investigator Award (Children Oncology Group), and Clinical Scientist Career Development Award (National Institutes of Health).
His philosophy of care is to improve the lives of young patients with musculoskeletal tumors. His special interests are in sarcoma management, bone and soft tissue tumors, limb salvage reconstruction, and investigational therapy for bone and soft tissue tumors. Dr. Hoang also speaks Vietnamese.
