Special Guest & Grand Rounds Presentation by

Heidi J. Dalton, MD

Heidi Dalton has been the Chief of Critical Care Medicine at Phoenix Children’s Hospital since 2009. Dr. Dalton earned her medical degree from Wayne State University. She completed her residency at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. and her fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. She also directs the research program in the division. Dr. Dalton is Director of Pediatric and Cardiac ECLS and a nationally and internationally renowned expert in ECLS. Heidi also serves as the division’s social director.

PURPOSE: The conference will provide a general review of history and contemporary use of neonatal and pediatric ECLS through didactic lectures, panel discussions and simulated case presentations.  Included in this review will be patient selection, management and technical aspects, and outcomes in ECLS.  Additionally, this conference will offer knowledge in the field of neonatal and pediatric ECLS that may directly impact the management and care of patients.

TARGET AUDIENCE:  The conference is designed for a multidisciplinary audience including physicians, nurses, allied health professionals and individuals active in caring for neonatal or pediatric patients who may be candidates for or who are placed on Extracorporeal Life Support or ECLS.  The conference may also be of interest to the general pediatric practitioner, nurse or allied health professional who would like to learn about ECLS.
