This presentation will provide techniques and strategies that utilize play from a rehabilitation perspective.  Specialists from the fields of occupational, physical and speech therapy will share their techniques, and educate the audience on ways of incorporating these strategies into our everyday child life practice.

This presentation will share from a personal and educational perspective the value social stories and the impacts they can have on children with varying abilities.  Dr. Howell will educate the audience on how to make and utilize these creative tools to encourage understanding, cooperation and empowerment.

We are proud to welcome a certified play therapist to teach on the different types of play therapy, the uses for each type and ways of incorporating those techniques into the patients we care for.

Practically Perfect in Every Way: How to Maintain Perfection as a Child Life Specialist

This presentation will address common struggles within the child life field, including; emotional fatigue, resistance to child life services, non-clinical responsibilities, time constraints and finding time to take a lunch.  The daily stress of being a child life specialist can make it a challenge to maintain perfect composure consistently.  We hope to share techniques and ideas that empower the audience to have realistic role expectations, group and individual support strategies and remind us all that we have the power to add an element of fun into every job that is to be done.
