1. Assess the cultural context of obese patients when providing easy to follow behavior modification, exercise recommendations and nutritional advice (AB1195).
2. Use simple tools preseented to improve managment in office of obese patients.
3. Provide timely and effective management of patients with obesity related co-morbidities.

Grand Rounds Outcomes: At the conclusion of this Grand Rounds Presentation, the Physician leaner will be able to:

2. Demonstrate at least one way to begin discussion about pediatric obesity in the pediatrician's office.
3. Identify at least 2 strategies to engage parents and children in addressing pediatric obesity.
4. Explain the utility of an evidence based approach, Motivational Inteviewing, for the assessment and treatment of pediatric obesity.

Target Audience: Primary care pediatricians. Family practitioners, Pediatric subspecialists, Pediatric residents and other healthcare professionals involved in the delivery of care to infants and children are also invited.

Accreditation: CHOC Children's is accredited by the Institute for Medical Quality/California Medical Association (IMQ/CMA) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Designation: CHOC Children's designates this live activity for a maximum of 4.0 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.  

This credit may also be applied to the CMA Certification in Continuing Medical Education.
