The CHOC Children's Department of Pharmacy Services provides in- and outpatient pharmacy services for patients, parents, physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and other health care providers who may be administering medication or require drug information while caring for patients. In addition to storing and distributing pharmaceuticals, our team maintains computerized patient medication profiles, evaluates drug prescriptions, monitors drug interactions and provides drug information and educations for healthcare providers.
Our staff is comprised of accredited pharmacists and technicians. Monthly staff development series are conducted by pharmacists, educating the pharmacy team on current topics. Our team also participates in multidisciplinary patient care rounds, Code Response teams and committees for improvement of pharmaceutical care and patient safety, and conducts clinical staff education via lectures and print materials. Our team also provides education and training as preceptors for the various Schools of Pharmacy in California, including UCSF, USC and Western University.
We seek to provide exemplary pharmaceutical care at a level commensurable with a premier children’s hospital and optimize the drug distribution systems by utilizing new technology and best practices in patient safety. We offer countless opportunities to grow personally and professionally, while making a difference in the lives of children and their families.
